crocodiles and cobras

lots has happened since the last little post. we had a fabulous america day (memorial day) party on saturday at john's house. it was just like home except the mosquitos were smaller, the beer pong was more intense, and the juleps were lacking. i lost my earrings at the bottom of the pool.. twice.. and sean, our resident water polo player/fish, found them.. twice..

sunday we woke up bright and early and headed out to jinja, the source of the nile river. we teamed up, hopped on our lovely boats and set sail down the class 5 rapids of the nile. of course as soon as we hit the first class 5 i launched (read as: was pushed) out of the boat. so that was fun. especially the part where i backflipped into the rocks. next time im wearing knee pads and going where there are foam rocks. we stopped on a swiss family robinson-esque island for lunch, then continued on down the river til about 5 pm. oh additionally, we went swimming and BAM theres a cobra. it was mildly scary. but it was awesome. our ole pal david decided to dive down and find how deep the river was..well..it wasnt deep enough. he came up gushing blood from his forehead. woof.

so while you all are enjoying memorial day off, think of us in africa who are working. (read as: sampling south african wines and pretending to work) hotty toddy, enjoy the photos.
